“ Why is mathematics so important? Mathematics engages the analytical as well as the creative genius within each of us.
In maths we think outside the cube, looking at several ways to solve any particular problem. I encourage students to ask: “What am I solving?” ; “What is the application of what I am solving?” ; “What are the other ways to tackle this problem?”. A beautiful piece of maths is like a good story – Characters (Expressions) are involved in a plot (purpose) usually leading to the final chapter (solution) admiring how things played out.
I love maths, and I can only hope to inspire students to love it too.

After teaching for many years in both Montessori Education and public school settings I developed a strong interest and concern for the social and emotional needs of rangatahi. This passion inspired me to transition from teaching to counselling. My previous counselling experience has been at Youthline as well as in secondary, intermediate and primary schools. I enjoy coming alongside young people to facilitate growth and change as well as supporting them navigate their way through life’s challenges. I am inspired by the hope, strength and resilience students bring into the counselling room. I believe in empowering young people by helping them tap into their inner resources as well as supporting them to reach out to their support systems. I offer an empathic, non-judgmental space to explore any difficulties a student may be having. I work with a wide range of issues using a creative and strengths based counselling approach.
