Learning / Middle School (Years 7 to 10)

Years 9 & 10

Year 9

In year 9 students are placed in a form class with their peers, and they will remain in this class until they leave school.

At this level students will learn English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Health and Physical Education with specialist teachers. Students will also study Digital Literacy and participate in a semester of Project-based Learning. Additionally, students will need to select a Language and at least one Arts subject.

In supported studies students will be in a homeroom and will have the same teacher for their core subjects.

All students will be able to choose two additional subjects from Languages, Arts, Technology and Project-based Learning.

Year 10

In year 10 all students will continue with a common core of five subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Health and Physical Education. Students will again study Digital Literacy or Mechatronics, and participate in a semester of Project-based Learning. Additionally, students will need to select at least one Arts subject.

All students will be able to choose three additional subjects from Languages, Arts, Technology and Project-based Learning, with the option to develop their specialism in an Arts of Language subject should they wish.

To provide an achievable goal and motivation for Middle School students we have a formal graduation from the middle school into the senior school at the end of year 10.

​Alternative Course Structures

Applications to study at a higher level will be considered. Students need to demonstrate independent learning abilities, self-management and academic capability. A long term learning plan will be formulated and students will be asked to enter into a contract to maintain high achievement.
