I have come from Avondale College where I was the Sports Coordinator for a few years. I studied at AUT gaining a degree in Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, Majoring in Outdoor Education, where I went onto working in the tourism industry for a few years. I originally come from the Central North Island but have lived in Auckland for the last two decades.
I have been part of the Orewa College team since 2010.
I have previously been involved in data management, reporting, enrolments and communications for Orewa College. I was the Executive Assistant to two previous Orewa College Principals and have also worked with the International Student Department.
It is enjoyable to be part of such a motivated and professional team of people who are passionate about educating young people. Students continually impress me by the level of respect, confidence and maturity they demonstrate.
Although my role now as Events Manager, Grants and Fundraising is part time, it is a busy role which requires liasing with staff, students and many external contacts. It is a great challenge and an effective way to use my skills and previous experience to benefit the school.
I am a Teaching Assistant with a background in graphic design, and a BA in Communication Studies.

My own challenges in learning when younger and my journey to overcome them are a source of my motivation to give back. Living sustainably is also very important to me - I have a veggie garden at home, and am always looking for ways to "live lighter.

I really enjoy working in our Library and school environment and especially love the variety of work and the daily contact with our awesome students and staff. Outside of work hours I enjoy going to the gym, beach-time, walking, reading, singing in a local choir and time with family and friends.
As Executive Officer I manage the college facilities and support functions to ensure they operate effectively and safely.
Joining the International Department in 2022 is a great fit, as I have a love of travel and meeting new people.
As well as assisting our existing students, I look forward to welcoming our new international arrivals and supporting them in their journey here. I have many years of administration experience and love the variety this role offers.
Outside of school you will find me outdoors, most likely hiking!

My name is Tanya Lucas. I have worked in school sports for over 16 years both in the public and the private school system. My role in the sports department is coordinating, supporting and administering all sports from year 7 - 13. I have a passion to see as many students as possible excel in their chosen sports.

I support the teachers with all curriculum resources, I administer the budget, organise and run the Northern Auckland Region Technical Challenge.

I go to Year 8 school camp; we self cater so I organise and run three kitchen to feed up to 300 people over 4 days. I am in the process or organising and building an electronic resource library. I lead a team of Librarians who are passionate about helping students develop a lifelong enjoyment of reading. We also pride ourselves in assisting students to navigate the digital world. Our job often involves us supporting what the teachers are doing in the classroom and ensuring that students receive the help they require. What I enjoy the most is finding students who love to read and are enthusiastic when their favourite author publishers a new book.
I am a qualified Adult Educator, and spent most of my career in the Travel Industry.

I’m really looking forward to working alongside the Teachers helping our youth be the best they can be. In my spare time i’m Group Leader for our local Sea Scout group, so you’ll find me most days at the beach or out in the bush camping with 30+ youth
