Dear Orewa College Community,

The Orewa College Board is delighted to announce that after an extensive search and selection process, we have appointed Wiri Warriner as the new Tumuaki/Principal of Orewa College.

Wiri is well recognised as an outstanding educator and educational leader. He is currently Deputy Principal of Whangaparāoa College and comes to Orewa College with a broad, rich, and diverse range of leadership experience. Wiri is of Ngāti Whātua and Ngāti Porou descent and is also a former student of Orewa College and is deeply connected to the Hibiscus Coast community. He has a clear passion and vision for our learners, staff and community that aligns with the values, mission, and vision of Orewa College.

Wiri will bring energy and enthusiasm to the leadership of our kura. He is renowned for building strong sustaining relationships with staff, students, whānau and the wider community. He leads with mana, integrity and with strong sense of community, seeking the best opportunities for our rangatahi to succeed.

As many of you are aware, the role of the Tumuaki/Principal is crucial in shaping the educational experience of students and in fostering a supportive environment for students, staff, and families. We believe that Wiri embodies the values and vision of Orewa College and will lead us towards continued success and growth.

We will be hosting a pōwhiri (welcoming) event in the near future to officially welcome Wiri to our amazing school community. This will be an excellent opportunity for students and their families, to meet him and learn more about his plans and aspirations for Orewa College.

In the meantime, please join us in extending a warm welcome to Wiri. We are excited about the possibilities that he will bring to our school, and we look forward to embarking on this new chapter together.
