Student Health and Safety

Health Centre Nurses

We are fortunate enough to have very professional nurses in our health centre. The Nurses have asked us to remind parents that the nurses are not running a medical centre. Please ensure that all prior to school, health concerns are addressed at home. Re-dressing, re-strapping, investigating of past injuries, minor injuries which happened weeks ago etc, are not part of their work. They are here to deal with anyone who requires immediate assistance. Our Red Card students as always have direct access to the nurses.

Our staff are working with the nurses to ensure identification of when students should be sent to the nurses, is clear and procedures are followed. Also, the nurses have asked that you are reminded about keeping your student at home if they have respiratory illnesses until they are symptom free.

Traffic Control

With many of our students entering and exiting our three gateways at the front of the school, we ask that you as parents and caregivers take extreme care while navigation the school grounds and surrounding streets. Here are a few tips to help everyone stay safe.

  • Remind your student not to ride their bikes and scooters inside the school grounds.
  • Please do not enter the school grounds, unless it is an emergency, between 2.45 and 3.45pm.
  • Encourage your students to be dropped off and picked up well away from the front gates.
  • Do not drop students off at the crossing.

Parent/Caregiver Contact Details

Due to a network upgrade, there will be no internet at the school on Friday for House Party Day and it is imperative that student information is correctly recorded in case we need to contact parents/caregivers.

Please check that your contact details: names, address, phone numbers, email addresses are up to date.

Details may be updated through the schoolbridge app or via email to: enrolments@orewacollege.nz

Study hub is back and better than ever. This year our Academic Manukura and our Academic Senior Leaders are running two study hubs/whare ako.
