      Centreway Road Update

Centreway Road will return to two-way traffic upon completion of temporary line marking which is currently scheduled for the night of Monday 29 April.
The third and final layer of asphalt will require a full road closure and can therefore only happen at night. A date for this work has not yet been confirmed, but as an indication, is likely to take place at night on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 May between the hours of 8pm and 5am.
We acknowledge Centreway Road is a highly residential area and apologise in advance for any disruption our work may cause.

      Phone Policy Reminder

First time: The teacher confiscates the phone and takes it to the office - the student can pick it up at the end of the day.

Second time: Parents to pick up the phone from reception - parents will be notified by email that the phone has been confiscated.

Third Time: The teacher confiscates the phone and takes it to the office. Parents are notified and will be required to come in for a meeting to discuss the consequences. This becomes more of a defiance matter than a phone issue.

Year 7 Bike Safety - 13 May to 7 June

During weeks 3 to 6, each Year 7 class will get a day and a half working with instructors from Harbour Sport, developing their cycling skills and looking at riding bikes responsibly in the local area.

Students are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets from home.
Further information will be coming home shortly, including an outline of the program and class schedule.

Teacher Only Day - Friday 10 May 2024

There is a Ministry of Education teacher only day on Friday 10 May, no students to attend school on this day.

Teacher only days provide schools and kura with dedicated time to understand, prepare and engage with changes across the New Zealand Curriculum refresh, the redesign of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and shifts to strengthen NCEA.

      School Donations

We would like to thank all of those parents who have already paid the School Donation in 2024. This is a valuable source of funding for the school and it’s not too late to pay the 2024 school donation for those that have not.

For Orewa College, school donations are one of the very important funding avenues available to us. It has a positive impact and helps the school to continue to provide the learning experiences our students and their families expect.

Donations are an important contributor to school finances that enable schools to provide a range of curricular (classroom related activities) and extra-curricular options that are not covered by Ministry of Education funding but help enrich the experience for our students (e.g. attending a sports tournament, drama performance, student leadership and the library).

They have helped ensure that our school remains an outstanding school of choice that serves our students and the community well.
