Band Camp 2021 - The Great Rescue

This year Orewa College had many younger students attending the Band Camp for the first time, the excitement burst out of the buses as they arrived at the Willow Park camp.

All the students worked really hard in rehearsals, and made a lot of progress, but, of course, it is the fun and the food that we really go for. There are so many things to do and these were recorded by our Media Squad.

The Willow Park staff enjoy having our students every year, saying how well behaved, polite and kind they all are.

The Saturday night party was expertly led by the Head Boy, Head Girl and the Deputy Head Girl (all in the Concert band). Everyone turned up in 70’s fancy dress, and even ABBA made a surprise reunion thanks to Mr Popper’s Bjorn wig.

Just as the party was wrapping up, Miss McNab got a the message we were heading into lockdown so Mr Popper dashed off to organise “The Great Escape”. Within an hour parents began to arrive, having co-ordinated to take as many students home as possible. By 11:00pm only a few students were left to spend the night. Many thanks to all the parents who helped evacuate both students and musical equipment before the lockdown.
