On Sunday, 10th September 2023, sisters Santhiya Vasanth on flute (Year 10) and Sanjana Vasanth on trumpet (Year 8) participated for the second time in the Community Play-In, under the auspices of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

The APO Community Play In invites instrumentalists and singers of all ages and all abilities to come together for an afternoon of spectacular music-making in the Auckland Town Hall.

The 4 pieces were Fauré ‘Pavane’, Fauré ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, Bizet ‘L'Arlesienne’ & Offenbach ‘Orpheus in the Underworld: Can-Can’. The 4th piece was the obvious crowd favourite!

After 2 months of practising the 4 chosen pieces, it was an exhilarating experience for them to play alongside the Choir and 560 fellow instrumentalists of varying ages & expertise.

The perfect acoustics within the Great Hall of the Auckland Town Hall made the whole experience enthralling.
