Anzac Assembly 2024

On Friday 12 April, our Year 7 and 8 Anzac Assembly was held in the Orewa Arts and Events Centre. The event was attended by Senior Management, Manukura, as well as invited guests from King’s Empire Veterans and Hibiscus Coast RSA.

The 45 minute commemoration includes video of Gallipoli restored by Peter Jackson, and a moving RSA-produced music video called “Ragged Bloody Heroes”.

Many Year 7 and 8 students were involved in making this a very successful event, as well as contributions from some senior students. Lucas Gardner and Zackary Barnes (both Year 8) hosted the event, while our Head Manukura Astrid Canfield and Nathan Norrie read the Dedication and The Ode, and Jack Connell (Year 12) played “The Last Post” and “Reveille” on the trumpet at the Memorial Garden.

Highlights include Maria Walker-Kinnell (Year 12) bagpiping the guests in, and the wreath-laying at the school’s Memorial Garden. Special thanks to Mrs Boshard and her class 8BSH for their effort and energy in organising this event.
