Our Year 7 Social Studies programme is the focus of Terms 1&4, alternating with Science. Social Studies encourages students to investigate their own backgrounds and the world around them. This allows students a great deal of opportunity to practice their Key Competencies. Term 1 “Pass It On” - personal and family histories, culture and tradition Term 4 “Tourism” – reasons people travel, tourism attractions and facilities |
Our Year 8 Social Studies programme is the focus for Term 2 and is integrated with our Science topic in Term 3 & 4. Social Studies encourages students to investigate their own backgrounds and the world around them. This allows students a great deal of opportunity to practice their Key Competencies. Term 2 Pasifika - students study a Pasifika culture of their choice culminating with a performance for a Matariki festival at the end of the term. Visit to Te Hana marae; marae protocol and tikanga. Term 3 & 4 “Earth’s fury” , looking at how communities act in response to environmental phenomena. This unit is integrated with Science. |

Geography This is a half year course looking at both physical (natural) and cultural (human) aspects of Geography. |

This is a 2 term course. Students will develop knowledge, skills and key competencies for senior History courses. |
