At Orewa College, we believe in unlocking student leadership potential.

Each year, the student body elects a representative to the school board to advocate for student perspectives and present developments from the student council. All students are encouraged to participate in this democratic process.

The Student Body StructureEmpowering every student voice
  • Student: Opportunities to discuss matters in form class.
  • Form Class Representatives: Two students per class raise issues for year level meetings.
  • Student Council: Two students per year level share concerns and ideas.
  • Board Representative: The primary link between student council and the School Board.

Student Council meetings

Our student leadership discuss upcoming student matters such as charity fundraising, tree planting and workathons.

The goal being that the whole school community has a voice which is being listen to and acted on.

The Student Council meets fortnightly to discuss matters such as charity fundraising, tree planting, and workathons, ensuring the school community has a voice that is heard and acted upon. Contact Ms Crystal Beauchamp at [email protected] in the main office to add items to the agenda.

Orewa College Board Student Representative

Each year one student is voted onto the Orewa College School Board to represent the students of the college.

The student nominated to represent the students of Orewa College on the school board has the primary role of outlining any issues or development that have come from the student council meetings. This student will also give the students’ perspective on issues and items that may exist on the agenda.

All students are encouraged to vote for the person they would like to represent the students on the school board.

In 2026, the student representative elected to the Board is Mitchell Smith.
