Students Connect Through Social Volleyball Afternoon

Students take part in a social volleyball afternoon at Orewa College, building skills and connections through mixed-team games in the school gym.

Mixed teams and short games create space for learning and connection

Students took part in a social volleyball afternoon in the school gym, playing in teams of six across six courts in a series of short, rotating games. Teams were assigned courts and played quick rounds, with results recorded after each match before moving into semi-finals. Time ran out before a final could be played. The afternoon focused on connection and skill development, giving students the chance to meet others, share knowledge, and play without pressure.

Mr Ashton said, “its meant to be fun, enjoyable and relaxed for students and its a space where they can come to learn more and improve there skills. Students also highlighted the value of the experience. Hannah Tuckey said it was “a really good opportunity… to keep going with volleyball and learn new skills,” while Kristina Sulo said it "helped students meet others with similar interests."

Social volleyball will continue after school on Fridays in the gymnasium.
