Orewa College introduces No Device Days to support core skills through non-digital learning in regular classroom lessons.
Orewa College is introducing No Device Days, where lessons follow the AKO structure of Āki, Kōrero, and Oho using non-digital activities.
Without laptops or phones, ākonga focus on communication, collaboration, creativity, problem solving, and self-management. The approach also supports checking for genuine understanding without screens.
Teachers continue to use appropriate tools for instruction, while modelling expectations. Students with specific learning or medical needs will continue to be supported.
No Device Days will run as part of normal classroom programmes.
