Six Orewa College students were named overall champions at the recent school athletics event after strong performances across track and field.
Junior, intermediate and senior champions recognised after full day of track and field competition
Orewa College’s annual athletics event concluded last week with six students named overall year-level champions following a full day of track and field competition. Held on site, the event saw ākonga competing across sprints, distance races, jumps and throws.
Gemma Dunn was named Junior Girls Champion, with Ethan Heke taking out the Junior Boys title. In the intermediate division, Elise Chapman secured the girls’ championship and Ryley Thomas the boys’. Senior honours went to Charlotte Robinson as Senior Girls Champion and Jordin Fitzpatrick as Senior Boys Champion.
Kayleigh Donaldson described the atmosphere as positive, saying, “Athletics is pretty awesome sauce,” while Mr Wright reflected that it was “always a nice day seeing people connect through athletics.”
The event marked the close of this year’s athletics season, recognising both participation and consistent performance across multiple disciplines.
