McLaren dominated the 2026 Senior Extreme Tug, showcasing strength, strategy and house pride to claim first place ahead of Blake and Sheppard.

Strength, strategy and school spirit on full display at Senior Extreme Tug

The school fields were buzzing with energy as our senior students gathered for the much-anticipated Extreme Tug. With loud music, cheering supporters, and fierce house pride on display, the event delivered an electrifying atmosphere from the first pull to the final whistle.

The Senior competition (Years 11–13) showcased one house’s prowess. McLaren proved unstoppable throughout the afternoon, dominating their rounds with quick victories. Many of their match-ups were over in under 20 seconds, highlighting their coordination and strength.

“We feel fantastic!” said McLaren House Leader Mrs Heck.

Blake also delivered a strong showing, including a fierce early battle against Nepia that had spectators on edge. The intensity and competitiveness of the afternoon reflected the pride each house brought to the rope.

“Feeling great about today, and we are ready to make the podium,” said Principal Wiri Warriner, also in McLaren, who helped the house pull its way to victory.

The final Senior results were:

1st – McLaren 2nd – Blake 3rd – Sheppard 4th – Batten 5th – Nepia

Beyond the results, the event was a kick-start to the 2026 House competition, with peers and teachers rallying behind competitors throughout the afternoon, and some new additions to the house system: Mr Freeman and Ms Franklin boosting Nepia House and Sheppard House respectively.

A huge thank you to the Manukura team, supporters, and teachers who helped bring the event to life, especially Mr Dickinson for his relentless energy, and the media squad members Max Capon-Taylor, Katelyn Martin, Jasmine Mahoney, and Zac Thorne for capturing the action.
