Year 12 athlete shines at the Auckland 3000m Championships

ear 12 ākonga Isabella Pickering has claimed the gold medal in the U18 3000m Championships at the Dick Quax Memorial Athletics Competition.

Isabella delivered an impressive performance, executing a smart, strategic race and showcasing her strength with a powerful kick in the final stages. This victory marks a successful lead-up to the NZ Secondary Schools National Championships in December. Her win has set a high standard for her upcoming competitions. 

The event gathered athletes from various schools, highlighting the spirit of inter-school competition. Isabella's win not only celebrates her personal success but also contributes to Orewa College's growing interest in athletics, and an impressive set of results on track and field this year. With the national championships on the horizon, Isabella is looking forward to competing on a bigger stage.
