National titles for Orewa College siblings at Christchurch tournament

Elias and Devon Metzger-Feki have returned to kura as national champions after topping their divisions at the 2025 Judo Nationals in Christchurch.

The brothers each won gold, showing outstanding technique and focus in a competition that brought together Aotearoa’s top young judoka. They were joined at the event by fellow Orewa College ākonga Oscar Stevens, who competed strongly in a tough division.

Coach Al Polkinghorne said the medals reflected years of commitment and perseverance. “Champions aren’t made on the mat, they’re revealed there. The real work happened in every practice, every fall, every time they got back up.”

Their results place them among the leading young athletes in the country, with bright futures ahead both on and off the mat.
