Orewa College graduate Jannik Wittgen awarded Rhodes Scholarship to study sustainability at Oxford University.

Orewa College alumnus to study environmental enterprise at Oxford University

Following in the footsteps of our inspiring alumni, Jannik Wittgen is set to join the University of Oxford as a 2026 Rhodes Scholar.

Jannik graduated from Orewa College before completing a first-class honours degree in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Auckland. He now works at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and will soon undertake a Master of Science in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment.

His work combines engineering, leadership, and environmental responsibility. “True support means confronting the systemic threats to our future: climate change, pollution, and resource depletion,” says Jannik, who also serves as a commissioned officer in the NZ Cadet Forces.
His drive to lead change and serve others exemplifies the values we are proud to see in our alumni.
