Orewa College is inviting the wider community to lace up their runners and hit the sand for the very first Orewa Beach Fun Run on Saturday 13 December. Running from 9:00am to 10:30am, this exciting new event is proudly hosted by the Orewa College Alumni and Friends Trust.

Set entirely along the shoreline of beautiful Ōrewa Beach, the fun run offers both 2.5km and 5km options, with timed and casual divisions for all fitness levels. The course starts and finishes near the Ōrewa Surf Lifesaving Club and is scheduled for low tide, meaning no roads or footpaths, just sea air and soft sand.

“This is about bringing everyone together: whānau, friends, past and present staff and students,” said Orewa College alum Lewis Bostock. “We’re building something lasting for our kura and community.”

The fun run is more than just a feel-good day out. All proceeds will go towards the development of Orewa College’s new Fitness Centre, a project aimed at enhancing health and wellbeing opportunities for current and future students.

Participants can expect spot prizes, food stalls, a sausage sizzle, and a warm welcome from the Orewa College kapa haka group. With over 1500 people expected, early registration is encouraged.

The event also has a strong sustainability focus. Entrants are asked to bring their own filled water bottles, with a zero-waste commitment across the site.

Whether you're out to smash a personal best or enjoy a scenic stroll, everyone is welcome to be part of this special day.
