Orewa College ākonga win top prizes at the 2025 Greenfluence Art Competition in Auckland, including awards for literature, performing arts and MC leadership.
Creative ākonga shine at climate-themed art and performance event
Orewa College ākonga brought home an impressive collection of awards from the 2025 Greenfluence Art Competition
The event, run by the Greenfluence Collective, a student-led group from nine Auckland secondary schools, focused on the theme of climate resiliency. It gave rangatahi a platform to express their care for the environment through creative work, largely in visual art, writing and leadership.
Year 10 student Raina Baek took on a key leadership role as MC for the prizegiving. Orewa’s entrants also stood out across multiple categories:
Christine Cooke and Katie Broomhead took 1st place in Performing Arts
Christine was also named a Personal Favourite of a School Representative
Alina Korah won both the People’s Choice Award and Greenfluence Literature Favourite
Dan Yafei Wang was awarded Personal Favourite of a School Representative
With such strong involvement and success this year, Orewa College is already looking forward to supporting next year’s Greenfluence event.
