Battle of the Bands 2025 Brings the House Down

Ākonga and staff brought big energy and creativity to Battle of the Bands 2025 at the OAEC, with Nepia taking top honours.

A packed OAEC rocked with talent, teamwork and school spirit

Nepia House stole the show at this year’s Battle of the Bands, held Friday at the Orewa Arts and Events Centre. The annual event lit up the stage with powerful performances from ākonga across all major houses and even a staff band, “The Impositions.”

From powerful vocals to Chappel Roan's Hot To Go to slick guitar solos, each act brought something unique. But the night was about more than just competition, it was a vibrant celebration of creativity and kura culture.

“It’s such an incredible privilege to have watched this event grow over the past four years, to see a packed OAEC full of students and staff coming together to celebrate our talented ākonga, and live music,” said Josh Pinho, lead singer of The Impositions.

Each band represented their house colours with pride. The inclusion of staff this year added an extra spark, showing that music and fun run across the whole whānau.

Congratulations to everyone who performed, helped behind the scenes, or simply turned up to support the vibe. Battle of the Bands remains a much-loved part of our house competition and the school calendar.
