Orewa College cheerleaders win national titles with Crave Athletics, including first place and special awards in Porirua.
Ember and Lightning shine at United Cheerleading Competition in Porirua
Orewa College cheerleaders made their mark at the United Cheerleading Competition in Porirua, competing as part of Crave Athletics and earning national recognition.
The Ember team impressed judges with a polished routine, winning first place in the Level Three Senior Division. They also picked up the Best Dance award across all 56 teams, a major highlight of the competition.
Not far behind, the Lightning team delivered sharp stunts and strong teamwork to finish second equal in their division. Their creativity and execution also earned them the Best Pyramid award, showcasing their power and precision on stage.
“Both teams delivered show-stopping performances and we are so proud of them,” said teacher and parent, Tanja Spaabaek. “Their results are a reflection of the hard work they’ve put in over many months of training.”
Congratulations to Ember athletes Taya Cotterell, Harlow Hodge, Leah O’Reilly, Paige O’Reilly, Madi Pescott, Maia Pretsell, Ivy Radley, Kailyn Theron, and Maggie Young. Lightning’s achievements were led by Kayla Johnson, Charlize Neilson, Jessica Wright, Caitlyn Stevens, and Aurora Peat.
Cheerleading is gaining strong momentum at Orewa College, and these results show the exciting opportunities ahead for ākonga in this growing sport.
