Orewa College supported the 2025 Tū Māia Festival, hosted by Orewa Beach School, with ākonga welcoming and performing alongside schools from across the rohe.

Orewa College ākonga stood as hau kāinga at this year’s celebration of kapa haka and te ao Māori

Orewa College was proud to attend and support the 2025 Tū Māia Festival, hosted this year by Orewa Beach School. Thirteen rōpū performed from across the rohe, including kindergartens, primary schools and colleges.

Our ākonga stood as hau kāinga to welcome and manaaki the many manuhiri who came to perform and support. Later in the day, our Year 7–13 students stood together as one, offering haka tautoko to our teina from the primary schools.

The festival was filled with mana, pride and aroha for all things Māori.

Before the closing karakia, the mauri of the festival was passed to Silverdale Primary School, who will host Tū Māia in 2027.
