Student Isaac Gleeson wins unanimous boxing rematch at Motueka’s Rangatahi charity event.

Victory marks redemption in rematch for Year 12 student

Year 12 ākonga Isaac Gleeson stepped into the ring at the Motueka Recreation Centre with focus and purpose and walked away with a well-earned victory.

Competing at the Fight for Rangatahi charity boxing event in Nelson, Isaac won by unanimous decision, taking all three rounds in a dominant performance. This was a rematch after a previous narrow loss, or “split” decision, to the same opponent.

Isaac trains under coach Ben Williams of Northern Boxing Academy, and his commitment to the sport is clear. He was “happy to get the win back”.

More than just a personal win, the event raised awareness and support for rangatahi, using boxing as a platform for positive change.
