Five Orewa College swimmers impress at NZ Secondary Schools Champs, earning medals and top-four finishes.
Five Orewa College ākonga made a splash at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships in Hamilton last weekend, placing an impressive 42nd out of 125 schools.
Seamus Avery stood out with a silver medal in the 50m Backstroke and a bronze in the 50m Butterfly. Zoe Hooton came close to the podium, placing 4th in both the 4x50m Medley and the 200m Freestyle. Nina Rice also secured two 4th placings, in the 50m Breaststroke and the 4x50m Medley. Murray Barnes added to the tally with a strong swim in the 4x50m Medley team, which finished just shy of a medal.
For a small team, these results are another chapter in the continued success our swim team has enjoyed throughout the year.
