New international ākonga enjoyed a scenic day at Shakespeare Regional Park on Wednesday 16 July.
A warm welcome to Term 3 with native bush, beaches, and new friendships
New international students were treated to a beautiful slice of Aotearoa during a welcome trip to Shakespeare Regional Park on Wednesday 16 July.
These ākonga, who have arrived from countries including Germany, Italy, Belgium, China, Japan, and Chile, kicked off Term 3 with a walk along the Waterfall Gully track. It was a chance to see native bush and birds up close, a classic Kiwi experience.
The group then made their way to Te Haruhi Bay, stopping at the lookout before relaxing on the beach for lunch. Some played games, others just enjoyed the view and fresh air.
It was a day full of sunshine, shared stories, and a warm introduction to life in Aotearoa.
