Video Showcases Pasifika 2025

Orewa College Pasifika rōpū led Matariki Fia Fia with strong performances from Whangaparāoa College and Mahurangi College.

Pasifika leads Matariki celebration with pride

On Thursday 19 June, the Orewa Arts and Events Centre was alive with the sights and sounds of the Pacific as our Pasifika rōpū took centre stage for Matariki Fia Fia 2025.

With whānau from Whangaparāoa College and Mahurangi College joining the celebration, the evening was a heartfelt tribute to Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa and the connection between Pacific cultures and Matariki.

Our Pasifika performers brought the spirit of their ancestors to life through vibrant siva, soulful singing, and joyful energy that lit up the stage.

The event was beautifully captured by Media Squad leader Megan Postlewaight and Georgia Sparks. Their photos show the beauty and strength of our Pasifika ākonga in motion. This video, created by teacher Ralph Zamora, captures the essence of Matariki Fia Fia and the grace of our Pasifika rōpū.
