Lifesaving Success: Students Selected to Represent Aotearoa
Orewa College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students Anika Pihema and Jordin Fitzpatrick, who have earned places on New Zealand’s national lifesaving teams. Their selection marks a milestone not only for these talented athletes but also for our kura and the wider community.
Anika will join the NZ Pathways White Team, while Jordin has been named in the NZ Youth Team. Both students will head to the Gold Coast in August to compete at the Battle of the Tasman, an elite international event that brings together the best young lifesavers from both sides of the ditch.
Anika’s sporting excellence doesn’t stop at the surf. She’s also been named in the Netball North Harbour U18A Team this week.
We also extend a big mihi to Orewa College alumnus Jasper Cornish, who will join Anika on the NZ Pathways White Team. Jasper continues to represent the values of ako and perseverance that are part of our school culture.
These successes show what’s possible with talent, determination and strong whānau support.
