AFL New Zealand Clinics at Orewa College for Year 7 and 8 Students

Orewa College Year 7 and 8 students participated in free AFL (Australian Football League) clinics delivered by AFL New Zealand, gaining new skills and confidence while having fun.

Aussie Rules, Kiwi Fun: Year 7 & 8 Students Try AFL at Orewa College

Free clinics with AFL New Zealand bring energy and new skills to PE lessons. Year 7 and 8 students at Orewa College were recently given the chance to try their hand at something new: AFL, or Australian Football League, thanks to a free clinic offered by AFL New Zealand.

Over two days, tamariki learned how to kick, handball, mark, and move in this fast-paced, team-based sport. The programme brought a fresh twist to physical education and was enjoyed by all involved.

What made this experience great:

  • Delivered by trained coaches from AFLNZ

  • No cost to students or families—completely free

  • Focus on building confidence, coordination, and teamwork

  • A fun, supportive environment for trying something new

  • A chance to discover a different sporting code

These clinics are just one of the many ways Orewa College encourages active learning, hauora (wellbeing), and exploring diverse opportunities.
