OsmiC Mega Crew Dances into History at National Championships

Orewa College proudly celebrates the incredible success of our OsmiC Mega Crew, who achieved an outstanding 2nd place at the prestigious Hip Hop International New Zealand Championships.

Held on Wednesday 23 April in Mount Eden, this national event marked a milestone moment for our kura, with OsmiC making their debut in the Mega-Schools Division.

Key highlights:

  • First-ever Mega Crew from Orewa College

  • 2nd place in their debut national competition

  • Crew of 23 students, selected through auditions in Term 4, 2024

  • Trained twice a week since Term 1, 2025

Formed with passion and commitment, OsmiC has showcased not only incredible skill but also strong Manaaki (care and respect) throughout their journey.

Crew Manager Keighley Woodroffe, choreographer Travis Lightband, and support staff member Gail Boshard provided guidance, energy, and encouragement throughout the crew’s preparation and performance. Their expertise helped OsmiC deliver a polished and powerful routine that impressed both judges and audiences.

Special congratulations go to Crew Leaders Jamie Collins, Lachlan Buckley, and Cadence Ulugia, whose leadership played a key role in the group’s success.

Looking ahead, OsmiC Mega Crew has four more competitions scheduled for 2025. The future is bright for this talented mega crew, and we look forward to seeing them continue to represent Orewa College with pride and excellence.
