Rising Through the Ranks

Luke described the opportunity to fight at Knees of Fury as “incredibly fortunate,” given that it was only his third amateur match. He noted the promotion’s national reputation and influence in the sport.

“This was a big step for me — my first unpadded fight and a chance to test myself under a more challenging ruleset,” he said. “I focused on clinch work and knees, which led to two knockdowns and eventually the stoppage.”

He also acknowledged the vital role of his training team at Apex Muay Thai.

“My coach and fight team are a huge part of this. We train hard together and always push each other to improve. It really feels like a whānau.”

Having trained in Muay Thai for over four years, Luke is committed to progressing in the sport.

“I’ve loved the sport since day one. This win is an important milestone in my amateur journey and I hope it helps me continue moving toward my goal of fighting professionally.”

Orewa College is proud of Luke’s sporting achievement and the dedication he has shown to his sport.
