House Spirit Soars in Term One
Term One brought the heat to Orewa College, as the House System kicked off with six vibrant events full of fierce competition.
The biggest celebration of the term was House Party Day, where all five houses came together for a day of fun, challenges, and cheering.
A first-ever tie in the Waka Race stunned the crowd – showing just how close the competition is in 2025.
A dramatic three-way tie between McLaren, Sheppard, and Batten in the senior Extreme Tug event closed out the term on a high note.
All houses brought their best with high-energy assemblies and non-stop support from kaiako and ākonga alike.

As the dust settles from Term One’s competitions, the leaderboard is looking tighter than ever:
First place (tie): Batten, McLaren, Sheppard
Fourth place (close behind): Blake and Nepia
“House Party Day was the loudest and most colourful we’ve seen yet,” says House Leader Joel Dickinson. “It’s exciting to see such strong whanaungatanga and pride from every house.”
