Seiko Gakuin Students Experience Life at Orewa College

Orewa College was proud to host twelve students from Seiko Gakuin High School, Yokohama, for a 10-day cultural exchange. During their stay, our guests immersed themselves in New Zealand life, forming friendships and gaining unforgettable experiences.

Highlights of Their Visit:

  • English Learning: Attending classes and practicing language skills with their Orewa College buddies.

  • Haka Performance: Learning the Ka Mate haka, a significant part of Aotearoa’s cultural identity.

  • Outdoor Adventures: Conquering high ropes at Tree Adventures.

  • Exploring New Zealand: Visiting Rotorua’s geothermal wonders and the glowworm caves of Waitomo.

  • Orewa Beach Fun: Enjoying the sun and surf alongside new friends.

  • Homestay Experience: Living with local families and embracing Kiwi hospitality.

  • Engaging with Year 8 Classes: Sharing activities and creating cross-cultural connections.

A Lasting Connection

Hosting the Seiko Gakuin students (again!) has been a privilege. These exchanges enrich our students' perspectives and strengthen international friendships. We hope this experience has been as memorable for them as it has been for us.

As their time with us comes to an end, we extend a heartfelt ka kite anō—until we meet again. We wish our Seiko Gakuin friends a safe journey home and hope to welcome them back in the future.
