Waka Race 2025 – A Battle of Ingenuity and Teamwork!
For the past 20 years, Orewa College’s House Waka Race has been a highlight on the school calendar, and this year’s event did not disappoint! 🌊
From 8 AM, students and staff worked together to design and build their waka using barrels, timber, rope, and the occasional unexpected item—yes, even a stray kayak! By lunchtime, it was time to test their creations on the estuary. Some waka held strong, others… not so much!
