OC Orienteering Team Kicks Off the Sprint Series with Outstanding Results
The Orewa College Orienteering Team has launched into the 2025 season with a fantastic first event in the Sprint Series. Competing at Birkenhead College on Thursday, 27th February, our 59 students joined over 500 athletes from across the North Shore in a challenging and exciting competition.
Standout Performances
Several OC students secured top placings, showcasing skill, determination, and enthusiasm:
🏆 Harper Tipene – 1st place (Year 10/11 Girls)
🥈 Lacey Gornall – 2nd place (Year 8 Girls)
🥈 Ellie Boreham & Farrah Sweeney – 2nd equal (Year 7 Girls) [First-ever competition]
🥉 Daniel Van Zyl & Matt Dodds – 3rd equal (Year 7 Boys) [First-ever competition]

Orienteering on the Rise
The sport continues to gain popularity at Orewa College, with many first-time competitors giving it a go and delivering incredible performances.
