Orewa College Band Camp | Music, Teamwork & Whanaungatanga
From the 21st to the 23rd of February, Orewa College’s Symphonic, Concert, and Senior Jazz Bands gathered at Willow Park Camp for an unforgettable three-day musical retreat. This annual camp is designed to fine-tune musical skills, foster teamwork, and strengthen friendships within the bands.
What Happens at Band Camp?
Intensive Rehearsals – Students dedicated hours to refining their pieces, preparing for upcoming performances.
Team Building – Beyond the music, students engaged in activities that encouraged support and connection.
Confidence & Growth – Many students left feeling more skilled, inspired, and connected to their fellow musicians.
Band Camp isn’t just about the music—it’s about coming together as a group.
The Power of Whanaungatanga
A key part of Band Camp is the sense of belonging and teamwork that students develop. By the end of the camp, the bands had not only improved their sound but also their sense of whanaungatanga.
