Orewa College Athletes Excel at Auckland Secondary Schools Aquathon

A team of talented Orewa College athletes put their endurance and teamwork to the test at the Auckland Secondary Schools Aquathon on Tuesday, delivering outstanding performances across both individual and team events.

Held at St Kentigern College, the competition started under ideal overcast conditions before the sun broke through, setting the stage for an afternoon of intense racing.

Gold Medal for U16 Female Team

Nina Rice powered through a demanding 500m ocean swim before handing over to Isabella Pickering, who maintained a strong pace in the 3km run.

Their combined effort saw them surge ahead of the competition, securing an incredible gold medal finish.

Strong Performances in U14 Individual Race

Jackson Pickering and Charlie White, both Year 9 students, competed in the U14 Individual category. Facing a highly competitive field, they tackled a 400m ocean swim followed by a 2km run with determination. Jackson finished an impressive 8th place, while Charlie secured 11th place.
