Facebook Page Groups for Mountain Biking :
Orewa College SPORT and Auckland Schools Mountain Biking
The school mountain biking team is parent led and relies on students being signed up via the Auckland Schools Mountain Biking website. There are 5 races per racing year held from March through to October and races are completed in all weather conditions. These events are held at mountain biking venues throughout Auckland and include courses with varying degrees of difficulty but achievable. Race venues include Riverhead, Woodhill, Waitawa, Totara Park, Barlow Road, Slater Road (private track) and the Hunua Ranges. Auckland Schools Mountain Biking confirm race venues at the start of each year. After each race, podium awards are given and there are spot prizes for everyone who enters.
Racers need to have their own mountain bike and will need to make their own way to the races. They should have some previous mountain biking experience but this is not essential.
Entries are online directly with the Auckland Mountain Biking club. Upcoming races will be in Kamar notices allowing plenty of time to sign up. You do not need to sign up for every race, you can pay for individual races to suit your family. The more races you enter, the more points Orewa College receives towards the Top Auckland School trophy.
The Orewa College sports department needs to keep a record of our students and what events they are entering. We also need to assign you a racing shirt for the races you enter to represent our school.
