Pink Shirt Day 2026 will bring colour to Orewa College as students and staff stand together against bullying.

Orewa College will mark Pink Shirt Day on Friday 15 May, with staff and ākonga encouraged to wear pink as a visible sign of support for diversity, manaaki and standing up against bullying.

Across the kura, the day will be a reminder that small actions can help shape a safer and more inclusive school culture. Staff are encouraged to wear pink clothing or accessories, while students in uniform may add pink accessories or wear pink shirts.

Pink Shirt Day Coordinator Frances Ferguson said "Pink Shirt Day celebrates diversity and encourages people to be upstander."

The morning will begin with a staff photo at 8.30am, with the aim of beating the school’s record of 55 staff participating in the photo last year. Later in the day, students wearing pink will gather for a lunchtime photo.

In the Orewa Arts and Events Centre, a sausage sizzle and bake sale will give students and staff another way to come together during the day.

Form teachers will also receive slides and activities for Friday ILT, including a form class challenge Kahoot designed to spark discussion and encourage students to think about what it means to be an upstander, not a bystander.

Pink Shirt Day is a reminder that the way people treat each other matters. Across the school, students and staff will be showing their support for a culture where people feel comfortable being themselves.
