Batten House wins the Orewa College house competition for the third consecutive time, celebrating with a fun day at Parakai Pools.
Students rewarded with a day at Parakai Pools for their achievement
Batten House has made kura history by winning the Orewa College house competition for the third year in a row — the first time this has happened since Blake House had five consecutive wins in 2014.
To mark the occasion, all Batten House ākonga from Years 7 to 13 were treated to a celebration day at Parakai Pools in Helensville on Wednesday, 23 October. The day was packed with fun, from hydro slides to thermal pools, and finished with a sausage sizzle. The day brought the whole house together in celebration.
“We’ve done it, we got our 3 peat. Batten, we could not have done this without every single one of you who got involved this year,” said the Batten House student leaders.
Batten House Leader Mikayla Flood added, “The sea of blue continues to flood through Orewa College.”
The win reflects the strong house spirit and participationn in House events by Batten students throughout the year. Their performance across a range of competitions has set a new benchmark for House competition.
As Mikayla steps away on maternity leave in 2026, the house will welcome new leadership. Matt Harrison will take on the role of Batten House Leader, supported by new student House Leaders: Sophie Cotter, Greta Keuning and Tayler Bout.
Congratulations to Batten House for this third consecutive win and for showing what House pride and participation can achieve.
