Orewa College Represents at ASB Polyfest 50th Anniversary Gala
Orewa College was proud to attend the ASB Polyfest 50th Anniversary Celebration Gala, held in Auckland as part of this iconic festival’s milestone year.
Our principal, Wiri Warriner, was joined by staff member Jo Hayward, and student leaders Phoenix Iopu Aso and Faith Smith for this prestigious event. Also present were Whangaparāoa College student leader Kyra-Lynn Barclay and Marina Vaha, founder of Hibiscus Tuakana.
A Celebration of Legacy and Unity
The Gala evening was a key part of this year’s ASB Polyfest, recognising five decades of:
Cultural leadership and identity
The founding visionaries of the festival
Ongoing contributions by schools, whānau, and wider communities
From the first Polyfest in 1976 to today’s vibrant, large-scale event, the 50th Gala was a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come—together.
It was a powerful night of pride and reflection. We felt deeply honoured to represent our kura and community on this special occasion.
Looking Ahead with Purpose
This celebration wasn’t just about the past. It was also a moment to look ahead — acknowledging the rangatahi, kaiako, and community leaders who will carry the kaupapa forward for the next 50 years.
Being part of this event made us feel connected to something bigger — Orewa College remains committed to fostering cultural pride and leadership across our kura and community.
