Bringing Art to Life: Orewa College House Pavement Art Competition
Orewa College’s annual Pavement Art Competition turned the school courts into a colourful outdoor gallery last week. Students from across the school worked in teams to create bold and imaginative designs, showcasing their artistic talent and teamwork.
A Creative Challenge
Years 7-10: Inspired by New Zealand artist Jo May, middle school students experimented with line, colour, and composition.
Years 11-13: Senior students reimagined iconic ‘60s music album covers, putting a fresh twist on classic designs.
Time Limit: Each team had just three hours to bring their vision to life using chalk, tape, and creative tools.
Competition Highlights
Batten House dominated the event, taking first place in both junior and senior divisions. The competition continues to evolve each year, with students finding innovative ways to push their artistic boundaries.
Judge praised the high standard of work: “The attention to detail and teamwork on display was truly impressive. It’s fantastic to see so much creativity from Orewa College students.”
