Itinerant music lessons are generally 30 minute lessons in groups of 3 or 4 students, depending on the instrument. Lessons are offered during school time on the following instruments:

Students receiving Itinerant music lessons are expected to:

• Demonstrate a commitment and responsibility towards their lessons.
• Students are expected to be present for all of their lessons. If for any reason they cannot they need to contact their music teacher.
• Be involved with an appropriate co-curricular music groups or performances.

Itinerant Lesson Costs

All Year 7 students will be tested for their potential music aptitude (natural ability) and those who show particular talent will be offered a place in the Year 7 band and there is an agreement to play in the band for 2 years minimum.

This registration process needs to be done each year, even if students have previously received lessons in school, as part of the itinerant music scheme. Completed forms will be collated by our department to place students. You will not be allocated lessons if you don’t register.

Itinerant Music Lessons 2025 (new and returning students)

Should a student wish to terminate their lessons, they are required to email [email protected] and lessons and payment will terminate at the end of that term.

Reports will only be supplied to students by their itinerant music teacher if they have successfully completed all 4 terms with them.

The Music Information evening is Wednesday 5 February at 6.00pm in the Orewa Arts & Events Centre main auditorium.

New students will have the opportunity to find out more about the instruments we offer and register for lessons.
