Kapa haka Group

Our Kapa haka is a well established Maori Performing Arts group.

The Kapa haka group is led by Mrs Marara Schreurs.

In Term 1 we welcome all students to come to practices, this is so they can get a chance to experience performing. It also allows them a chance to make a commitment to the group in Term 2. Students range from Year 7 to Year 13 and are all committed to the principals of Manaaki Orewa.

The Kapa haka group performs several times over the year

Focus on participating in and supporting cultural performances:

  • School assemblies
  • In-school pōwhiri and whakatau
  • Across school performances including:
    • Te Kōtahitanga
    • Pasifika Fiafia
    • Tū Maia
    • Kaipara Festival
    • 2023 Polyfest Joint venture with Whangaparaoa College

These are held on a Friday in Cultural Block in the Orewa Arts and Event Centre.

Extra practice times expected Term 2 - before school or after school and a part of lunchtime.

There is a small charge per student which is payable when they make their commitment in Term 2.
