Year 7 EOTC Weeks 2025, Another Huge Success

Year 7 students at Orewa College took part in an exciting Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) program, featuring five themed days of adventure, learning, and teamwork.

Year 7 Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) Weeks at Orewa College

In Weeks 5 and 6, Orewa College Year 7 students took part in an exciting Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) experience. This programme, led by qualified instructors and our experienced Year 7 teachers, challenged students with a variety of activities that linked to physical skills, health, performing arts, and local knowledge.

Themed Days of Adventure

Each day provided opportunities for students to explore different aspects of learning outside the traditional classroom.

  • Action Day: Thrills and spills at Action Ninja World, Matakana

  • Arts Day: Performing arts at Centrestage Theatre, plus a school arts trail

  • Beach Day: Surfing with NZ Surf Academy and raft building with Bigfoot Adventures

  • Survival Day: Tent building, cooking, and team-building challenges at school

  • Team Day: Bivouacs, Taskmaster games, and swimming at Wenderholm Regional Park

These activities were designed to help students develop life skills, foster teamwork, and strengthen connections to the local environment.

It’s fantastic to see our students grow through hands-on learning experiences.

As students continue their EOTC journey in Year 8, including the Year 8 Camp, the skills and experiences gained during these weeks will serve as a solid foundation for future learning.

The Importance of Parent Support

A huge nga mihi nui to the parents and whānau who supported the program, particularly those who helped with supervision, transport, and water safety. Your contribution is invaluable in making EOTC weeks possible!
