Manukura Leadership Programme 2025

Orewa College’s Manukura students have set the tone for a year of leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. Over two days, they participated in challenges designed to build resilience, cooperation, and cultural understanding.

Action Matakana: Testing Limits & Building Teams

On the first day at Action Matakana, the Manukura students faced:

  • Morning team challenges – developing problem-solving and collaboration skills.

  • Afternoon obstacle course – pushing physical and mental limits.

These young people were outstanding. Many overcame fears, worked together, and represented Orewa College in a truly positive way.

A Cultural Journey at the Marae

Day two was a deep dive into Te Ao Māori at a local marae, where students:

  • Explored the history of the marae and its significance.

  • Gained insights into Te Ao Māori leadership values.

  • Engaged in a self-awareness activity led by Mr Warriner.

The students showed an openness to learning and growing together. Their enthusiasm was inspiring.

Theatre Sports & Reflections

The programme wrapped up with an engaging theatre sports competition led by Mrs Kenny, bringing laughter and creativity to the evening.

Orewa College is proud of the Manukura group for demonstrating the skills and mindset needed to lead.
