Martin Ball is a well-established Auckland artist whose speciality area is drawing super realism. Mr Ball was an art teacher at Orewa College in the 1970’s. He is more renowned for his 2 x 2 paintings and drawings of NZ art celebrities, especially of Ralph Hotere. Martin discussed his artistic practise of working 8 hours a day at his drawings to our year 13 painting class. After this he critiqued their work and helped them with their drawings. Students have commented on how inspired they were by his visit.
