The Manaaki Values Awards

Orewa College has a values system which recognises students and staff for positive behaviour called Manaaki Orewa. In 2022 we are adding a new component to our values system by initiating the Manaaki Values Awards. These awards will recognise students, staff and school volunteers for their contributions each term (4x a year).

We are happy to announce that the Beach House Eatery, right on Orewa Beach and next to the Orewa Surf Lifesaving Club, have come on board as a partner to acknowledge and reward those selected to be recipients of the Manaaki Values Awards. We are calling on parents and our wider school community to have their say on who they believe has made the school community a better place through their actions.

To become a successful recipient of a Manaaki Values Award the nominees will have been judged to have shown:

  • A significant contribution to the school over and above what is normally expected.*
  • Demonstrated leadership on a school issue that enhances the Orewa College community.
  • Developed a significant initiative which has brought about positive change to school life.
  • Inspired others through their actions to be viewed as a role model.

*NB: A staff member’s significant contribution should be over and above what is expected from their typical paid employment.

Parents, guardians and the wider school community, Orewa College would love to hear about the individuals or groups that you have seen showing respect for themselves, respect for others or respect for our environment.
