Science for Hauora Day

Kia ora tatou. Last month a group of our Year 10 students attended the Science for Hauora Day for Maori students at Massey University in Albany. This initiative, which has been running for some years now, is organised by Kia Ora Hauora along with Northland, Auckland and Counties-Manukau District Health Boards. The aim of the day is to encourage more Maori students into health related occupations. The students were able to test their science knowledge through practical workshops in the physics, biology and chemistry laboratories. It was a wonderful 'eye-opening’ experience for the students who gained useful knowledge on both health and science related pathways available at Massey. It was great to see the level of interest and participation shown by our students and how they got the best out of their visit.
