The Senior Jazz Combo competed at the National Jazz Festival over Easter in Tauranga. Students played a set of 4 pieces including Billie’s Bounce, Mr. PC, Watermelon Man and Misty. Each of these pieces featured individual improvised solos. The group played outstandingly and came away with a well deserved Silver Award, and according to the Jury feedback, only tiny details kept us from Gold. Congratulations to: Dylan Blomquist, Eunseo Choi, Angela Marshall, Alexandria Waugh, Kate Beanland and Sofia McLeod. In a male dominated field our school had the youngest female Band Director.
